Brittney M. Demmer, 28-year-old Virginia woman has been arrested on charges of child pornography. She faces 10 counts of possession of child pornography after detectives from the Albemarle County and Charlottesville Internet Crimes Against Children units found videos involving child pornography.
A police raid on her home netted several pieces of evidence, including Demmer’s computer, video camera, and a pair of VHS tapes.
Demmer was most recently employed by Foundations Child Development Center on Berkmar Drive. Dana Slater, a lawyer who is serving as the center’s spokeswoman, said Demmer’s employment with the childcare center ended after thecenter was made aware of the investigation.
Charlottesville police first began investigating Demmer on March 23 after they identified the IP address as one of the Charlottesville region’s most active addresses for downloading and sharing child pornography.
On May 19, Detective C.E. Marshall of the Albemarle County Police Department executed a search warrant of Demmer’s residence on White Pine Way. Marshall seized a Gateway laptop computer, a digital Canon camera, two VHS tapes, two wireless Internet routers and a Playstation 3, a video game console that can store various types of media.
Upon previewing the computer’s contents, Marshall observed a movie file that showed a sex act involving a pre-pubescent girl, according to court documents.
