Gabriela Cortez, California By admin, on January 22nd, 2013 Gabriela Cortez, 43-year-old former Spanish teacher at Roosevelt High School, Montebello, California who pleaded guilty in November 2012 to six counts of of unlawful sexual intercourse, has been sentenced to five years probation and barred from teaching.
Cortez, a mother with one daughter, was arrested in February 2012 for alleged sexual relations with two male students. She plead in open court which means she didn’t accept a deal with the District Attorney’s Office but threw herself on the mercy of the court.
Cortez was arrested after rumours about sexual activity between female teacher and her two students surfaced. According to prosecutors, between January 2009 and November 2010 Cortez had sex with two male students, ages 16 and 17, in her home in Montebello. The first boy stepped forward a because he wanted to get the incidents “off his chest.” That student’s confession resulted in the discovery of a second victim, and at the time detectives believed there still might have been be more out there, but no additional victims were found during the investigation.
The former teacher faced a maximum sentence of six years and four months behind bars, but the judge ordered just a probation with no jail time. The judge said he was persuaded by Cortez’s attorney, Edward Robinson, that probation would be “the just sentence.”

The judge should be arrested in this case. Too much double standard. Look what happened in New Mexico.

Something need to be done about this! If it was Gary Cortez, guaranteed there would be a prison sentence.
We need to start imposing equality. They will be screaming for the security of the kitchen in no time. Female bystanders who have watched as men suffered 40 years of abuse at the hands of feminist governments, colleges and courts will get a taste of the same and will not longer remain silent.
There is most definitely a double standard here. But the real question is which side is the better choice. I’d suggest we err on the side of ‘yes means yes, no means no’, and avoid legal fictions that change that. In other words, those 18 year olds should not have been charged. Obviously this isn’t an absolute way to treat this, but I think it is better to let guilty go free than innocents be punished.
